The eye disease doctors at Delaware Vision Care help central Ohio patients with glaucoma, dry eye, cataracts and macular degeneration. A regular eye exam is a great way for us to catch these diseases in the early stages. If you already have an eye disease, we can help treat it!
Glaucoma: Glaucoma occurs when fluid buildup inside the eye causes excessive pressure on the optic nerve. Although many people fear this potentially sight-threatening condition, early diagnosis and treatment can help maintain your vision for a lifetime. If glaucoma is detected during your eye exam, Dr. Gaudio will outline a treatment plan that may include eye drops or laser treatment.
Dry Eye: Dry eyes can be very uncomfortable. Symptoms include eyes that burn or a foreign body sensation. Having dry eyes also makes you more sensitive to environmental changes such as wind, poor air quality, low humidity and air from a heating or air conditioning vent. There are many causes for dry eye and a variety of treatments. We will make sure that the treatment fits your specific type of dry eye.
Cataracts: Cataracts are one of the most common eye conditions, usually occurring later in life. A cataract occurs when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy. If left untreated, it can cause considerable loss of vision. Fortunately, cataracts are easily treated. If Dr. Gaudio diagnoses a cataract causing vision loss, he can promptly refer you to an eye surgeon who can remove the cataract.
Macular Degeneration: There are several different types of macular degeneration. Macular degeneration affects the central part of the back of the eye (the retina) which a person uses to read and to see faces. Some types require only nutritional care and others require more advanced treatments. Dr. Gaudio will make a careful determination of the type of macular degeneration and the appropriate treatment. Although there is no cure for macular degeneration, treatment can slow or even reverse the effects of this disease.
