Looking for an eye doctor for kids? Delaware Vision Care helps families in the Delaware, Ohio area keep their eyes healthy. Our eye doctors think children are special and we want them to feel special too! We realize that some kids feel anxious when coming to a doctor’s office, so we try to relieve their anxiety by making the eye exam an enjoyable experience.
Dr. Gaudio has a caring and gentle approach with his young patients. After the exam, the children each get a balloon, which they thoroughly enjoy. Some, we’re told, even ask their parents if they can come back!
Does Your Child Have Behavioral Problems Due to Poor Eyesight?
Even if your child has 20/20 vision, he or she may still have problems with eye movement skills and other binocular problems. These can manifest as headaches, poor reading skills, and decreased school performance.
Many of these children are labeled as having “behavioral problems” when in reality, they need special eye exercises. Dr. Gaudio tests for these conditions and prescribes home therapy if needed. He also tests for conditions such as strabismus (eye turns) and amblyopia (“lazy eye”).
The American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your baby’s first eye assessment at 6 months.
InfantSEE® is a public health program designed to ensure that eye and vision care is an essential part of your infant’s wellness care.
Dr. Gaudio is a participating optometrist in the InfantSEE® program, which means that he will provide a comprehensive infant eye assessment, between 6 and 12 months of age, as a no-cost public service.
